Legal Question in Elder Law in Connecticut
my parents have no assets other than 2 small group universal life ins. policies. my dad is facing the possibility of nursing home care and i was told to transfer ownership of the policies in my name and change the beneficiary name also to myself, so the nursing home cannot have access to it. The policies are for funeral expenses. does this sound correct?

I believe they are each entitled to have approximately $5700 each in pre-funeral burial contracts and still qualify for Title IX. I don't think the nursing home can have access to it anyway if it's a funeral contract.
