Legal Question in Elder Law in Connecticut
Can a person be represented by 2 separate lawyers for 2 separate issues? The reason I ask, is because my mother is being represented by an elder care attorney who drafted her will. My mother then decided to divest herself of her property to my sister. The lawyer said she absolutely would not do a transfer of the property. The attorney said this was because if my mother were to go into a nursing home, she would have no way to pay for it.

I can only guess because I don't have enough information. It appears that the attorney who drafted your mother's will was not comfortable handling the transfer maybe because she did not think it was in your mother's best interest. She doesn't necessarily have two attorneys. The attorney who drafted the will did just that and only that. If she had a lawyer who helped her divest her property to your sister, then that lawyer only represented her on that issue, not the will.
