Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

2 states and custody

I got custody of my daughter in Texas with her mother having visitation. I moved to Connecticut to go to schoool and have the support of my mother for my daughter. My ex wife has never tried to visit my child (3 years old) in the past year. She now wants to take her to Texas to visit for a month which is allowable by the divorce papers but she keeps threatening to go to court in Texas while my daughter is visiting and change custody. Can she file in Texas or must she file in Connecticut where my daughter and I have been residents for the last year?

Re: 2 states and custody

Once the child has been in CT for over 6 months, it is the CT court that has jurisdiction over the custody(but, of course, your ex might lie to the TX court about how long the child has been here)
