Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

i have an Alimony question, i was divorced in 2012 with 8 years alimony, is that the norm for all women or can you request even longer in this state?

You can get alimony for life here, but was your divorce in CT or elsewhere? Was the term of your alimony modifiable or not? Has there been a substantial change in circumstances since the alimony was awarded originally?
