Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Automatic clause in divorce decree.

I pay alimony to my ex who is the plaintiff. There is a clause in the agreement which states: Alimony to be paid weekly for a period of 18 months beginning January, 2003 with no change in amount or length of time by either party and the following exceptions are agreed to by both parties: Payments will automatically stop if one of the following occurs: Death of either party, Plaintiff remarries, Plaintiff cohabitates with another person as defined by statutes. She signed these papers at the end of December and I found out last week that she moved in with her boyfriend at the beginning of January because she could no longer afford her own place. Can I now stop paying? Do I need to go back to court again even though the papers state automatic?

Re: Automatic clause in divorce decree.

You really need to go back to court asap and get a court order approving the termination of the alimony.
