Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Name Change

I am divorced 8 years now and want my maiden name back. Can't I have this done by a court or through required documents to the court without my ex agreeing to this? I thought I could pay the fee and have it done. As I know he doesn't care at all but, I just would like it done without hassels.

Thank you in advance

Re: Name Change

You can get it done w/ or w/out his OK. Most courthouses have a simple form to fill out. There is usually no charge for this. You can easily do it yourself. You will need your docket number.

Re: Name Change

Check your judgment of divorce first. It may have already granted you the use of your maiden name.

If so, just provide a copy of the judgment and start changing your name on all your docs.
