Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

change of venue

My ex husband and I were divorced in NY and have a 9 yr. old son. He has not seen him in 6 years, and my divorce decree states that that father shall have no visitaion. He is a known drug addict and recently spent 10 months in jail for domestic violence. I have moved to Connecticut with my parents and now he wants to file for visitaion. I have a 5 year order of protection and he currently owes me 25,000 in back child support. I was wondering if I can have the case changed to Conn. now that I am a permanent resident here.

Re: change of venue

You can register a certified copy of the NY decree here and it will become a Conn decree (NY law will always apply to the case, though).
