Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Chid Support Modifications

My husband and I are expecting our first baby. He currently pays child support for three children to his ex. Would we be able to get the amount decreased because he will have another child? If they look at his income it will have gone up by 3-5% only, if that. A thrown wrench...in the decree she has $1.00 per year alimony. I know she has this so she can possibly petition for more per year. She would definitely petition if the support was decreased. She does work full time with a good salary. What is the likelihood that she would be able to get more money out of us? Would it be worth it for us to attempt this? Thank you.

Re: Chid Support Modifications

Unfortunately, you will not be successful in an action to modify child support based upon the new addition to your family. However, she, too, would not be successful in obtaining an increase in the alimony award of $1.00, based upon the facts as you describe them.
