Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Child in custody of her abuser - what can we do?

8 year old girl has been in legal custody of her biological father for the last 5 years even though the courts know he abuses her. Her mother has been fighting to get custody of her but nothing has been done. The man has just settled out of court with his step daughter on charges of sexual abuse. What can we do to get her home to a safe and loving environment? And is it the fact that the mother is black and the father is white has something to do with it.

Thank you

You have to file a petition with the court asking for custody. It is a specific process.
