Child support change outside the U.S?
Dear Sir/Madam,
Im a green card holder living in the U.S for 5 years ( soon will be getting my citizenship). Im divorced from a U.S citizen and she has the primary custody of the child so i pay her child support. I pay almost $1000 a month. But something accidently happened recently which i think it will make me want to go back to my home country to stay next to my sick old father and mother , so im thinking to go back to live and work there. Ofcourse i will come back for visit still to the united states. My question is this:
If i go back to Jordan and work and live there, do i still have to pay the same amount of child support? or would the judge consider the differenace in the average of income between here and Jordan? ( Income in jordan is much less this here in the USA).. Thank you so much .

Any changes to the order for child support would have to be brought to the attention of the court. In other words, you would have to petition the court for a change of amount in support.

The mere fact of moving will not subject you to a lower payment. In order to do so you will have to move for a modification of the prior order based upon your change in financial condition.
