Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Child Support

Unmarried Mom with Baby due in October

Father wants to contribute money for child support

I have no intention of marrying him

If I allow him to contribute money what are his rights?

Does he now have a legal connection to participate in the childs upbringing visitation etc?

Does he have rights to see the baby at any time?

Am I able to keep him from molesting me if he continues to be bothersome thru constant phone calls etc

Re: Child Support

The Father has legal rights concerning the child even if you do not accept his child support, so accept it.

However, unless he petitions and receives Joint Custody, you will make all legal decisions concerrning the child's upbringing (religion/education/medical) and he will have visitation rights and the right to be informed about medical, education, etc.

Unless the Father is a danger to the child, you should try and work with him concerning visitation (he can't see the baby whenever he wants), otherwise, you may find yourself in court with strangers (Judge, Law Guardian) making decisions about your child and the Father that you may not be happy with but will have to abide by.

If the Father is harrassing you, you can go to court and petition for an Order of Protection.
