collecting alimony

I was awarded non-modifiable alimony in a three tier by weekly payment form in 2000 in Connecticut. This is to continue until 2014. To date between missing and short payments he is $5500 behind. He was working full time remarried and bought a house, sold the house and moved out of state(Arizonia). I recieved an e-mail today informing me that he as layed off and he would not be making any payments at all until he finds work. He took a voluntary layoff so he would not have to relocate because his wife has a good job. I am currently supposed to be recieving $140 a week ( this does NOT include any past due amount) Can I attach his unemployment for at leat a partial payment until he finds work? Or do I need to take him to court and go after all the past due and current.

You can attach his unemployment for the entire weekly payment plus a weekly amount payable towards the arrearage. You need to file a motion with the court so that you can obtain orders to do this. The amount that will be deducted from his check will depend on how much his check is.
