Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

CT or NY easier & quicker divorce?

Want to file for divorce soon. Currently live in CT & want to relocate to LI, NY asap to be near ailing father. If I move to NY now will I have to meet a residency requirement before I can file there, or is it easier to file in CT? If so how long will I have to wait before I can move to NY? I imagine it would be difficult to live in one state & deal with a lawyer in a different state.

NY is more complicated and you will have to establish residency there. If spouse lives here, though, you can file here even if you live in NY. A lot depends on how contentious (over $$, children, alimony, etc.) it's going to be.
