Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
No Custody Battle, Just relocation
I've been offered a better position within my company two hours from where I currently reside. It will also help to bring me closer to my family. I'm not fighting for custody with my ex, I want to keep the custody as is, but change the visitation. Do I still need to go through the long process of a custody battle? Isn't there an easier way?

You do not have to file anything with the court if your ex is willing to informally agree to a visitation schedule. However, if your ex does not follow the modified visistation schedule, you cannot enforce it in court. In order to have a remedy in the event your ex violates the visitation order, you want to have a court order. To get this order, you have to apply to the court for a modification of the court's current orders.
