Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

custody of a 17 year old

My ex and I have had shared parenting for the last 7 years since our divorce. Recently my 16 year old son has gotten in a lot of trouble. He stole my car and skipped school with three of his friends and drove the car off of a cliff, totaling the car and all four kids had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to the hospital. As repercussion to his actions he was grounded in my home. He went to his father's house for his scheduled visit and when I went to pick him up he refused to come home. His father has since filed for sole custody and a modification of child support. I believe that he is violating our custody agreement by not letting him come home. I do not believe that living at his father's house because since choosing to stay there he has been arrested, expelled from school and is failing in school. I was served papers today for court. When I say ''served'' I actually mean that I came home and there were papers under my screen door. Is this legal?
