Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

If I am dating a girl who has children and I have a criminal background from 20 years past, can her Ex husband get a restaining order against me so i can see her kids?

I can't answer that question because I don't know what kind of criminal past. However, the children and/or her have to be subjected to a continuous threat of PRESENT physical pain or injury for a restraining order to issue.
