Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

My daughter in Connecticut is going through a divorce. She does not have a regular job but works on design projects for various companies. She hires up to 20-25 people and pays them and all other expenses out of the advance fee from the company. She only has done two of these--one each year. Her lawyer's paralegal put the total advance fee as net income so she has $1400 weekly income when in fact she will be lucky if she in reality clears $400. These projects are very hard to come by since you have to do detailed proposals and put in bids. How about when she gets the next advance to pay expenses. what should she do with it?
