divorce outside U.S.

i live here in Connecticut for 3 years now and i would like to divorce my husband in the Philippines that i haven't seen since 2006, is that possible? if yes, what documents i need to prepare/submit? i also have a child with him whose 9 years old now. can i also file the custody of my son? how long does it takes to process my divorce? can i file it myself or see a lawyer?

Go to the clerk's office in your district and they will give you the divorce packet. The most important part of this process is giving your husband notice in the Phillipines that you have filed the action against him. This must be done under the laws of Connecticut to be valid.

It's always safest to retain an attorney rather than to represent yourself.
