Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Divorce while remaining under same roof?

I want to divorce my husband (there are no children involved) but cannot afford my own apartment until I hopefully get awarded some type of settlement. My husband owned house before we married & kept it in his name only all these years. He wants to keep house & not sell it; would be difficult to sell anyway since house has been neglected & is in extreme disrepair). I want out asap but can't afford to move on my own yet. Can I remain in house while undergoing divorce?

Re: Divorce while remaining under same roof?

Yes. You can remein even after the divorce, if he's agreeable. During the divorce process (about 5 months), the court won't put you out. They won't put him out, either, unless there's some violence.
