Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
Does he get a third?
I was divorced in 1989 after 9 years married. We bought a home in November 1984. He left in January 1989. I still live in the home. As far as life insurance that we had it all ended in 1995. Neither of us died so no one collected and the cut off ended in 1995. For the home I do have the deed and the home is mine although his name is still on the mortgage. He just hasn't removed it. When I sell according to our divorce decree he is suppose to get a third when I sell. He was here just 4 years; I don't think anyone thought I would stay as I have. I know it is all legal, but is this for real, that after I have lived here paying the mortgage for 15 years (and longer) without him, it just doesn't seem fair that he gets a third and live here for 4 years. This is after I deduct anything I have put into the home to keep it up. Is this so binding that I must pay up? Can I get it changed? Thank you

Re: Does he get a third?
I'd have to see the divorce decree.
