Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
What can I do If my Employer is not Sending child support in on time... Sometimes a month late to DOR?
Lately my girlfriend has been receiving her child support from D.O.R more than a month late due to her X-husbands employer not sending it in on time. They are how ever deducting it from his pay check weekly. Supposedly the D.O.R has sent letters to the employer about this issue, But we have no Idea what those letters say or mean. She had gone the route of having it taken from his check directly because of non payment issues with the X, and now it seems she is in the same boat with the employer of the X. Aside from continuing to complain to D.O.R about this issue are there other possible actions she can take against the employer. And what penalties could the employer get a if this continues?

Your girlfriend (and/or her ex-spouse) can file a motion for contempt against the employer, have him served and required to appear before a judge or magistrate regarding his tardiness. Under the statute he can be fined, incarcerated or required to pay the monies your girlfriend's ex-spouse is required to pay as part of a contempt order.
