Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
my fiance at the time, was in a legal battle for to regain custody of her son from his grand parent who he was staying with while she got her affairs in order. during the battle her state appointed lawyer stopped showing up to court and did not advise her. the opposing parties lawyer had her sign a paper under distress that gave her custodial rights and stated that she was to pay $40 per week. my fiance did not recieve any court papers stating what was in this paper. she now received a statement from the courts that she owes $10000 in child support. what can we do? is this considered a miss trial because her lawyer failed to represent her during these proceedings?
