Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
I'm would like to file for divorce but my spouse moved out of state. How would I go about filing? There is a 12 year child involved but I have been paying my spouse child support which I directly put into her account. We have been living apart for 10 years. She has been out of the state of connecticut for over 15months. How would I file or serve her with a divorce?

If the child lives with your spouse out of state for at least 6 months, then you will need to serve her with a divorce in the state she lives in under that state's laws and procedure. You could try to serve her with a CT divorce, but depending on the facts of your case, it could get dismissed if a court believes the other state is the better forum for bringing the action.
