Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

fileing for divorce

I had a divorce filed to get a house from me, that was owned by both myself and my wife. I forced her to buy my half before I would leave, now she is talking about asking for the 1.00 thing and said I was not allowed to spend any of the house money after her and her laywer said it was free and clear. I spent it on truck school and a motorcycle, so now what? I am helping her pay med bills and credit cards. she is on s.s.

Re: fileing for divorce

First of all, your question is not very clear as to what stage of the proceeding you are in. My guess is that your wife and her lawyer agreed to buy out your share of the house and give you the money prior to the divorce being finalized. If this is true, there seems to be a misunderstanding as to whether you were able to spend that money prior to the divorce being finalized.

I'm not sure what the 1.00 per year alimony request has to do with the money from the buy out. Nevertheless, you should have had a written agreement as to the terms of the buy out and that agreement should have been made a court order. Then there is no question as to what everyone's responsibilities were.
