Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
I have a friend who went to court for custody of his son who is almost 2 years old. The decision was that he can only see the child 2 days a week. He of course isn't happy about this. He was hoping for full custody. The biggest issue though is he is being asked to pay a little over $600 a month in child support which is going to leave him $400 short on rent each month, plus he would still have to pay for food and gas. He was told that he cannot appeal anything until January! He is on the verge of being homeless because of the amount of child support, and if that happens we know that his ex(who he was never married to) will do everything in her power to have custody completely taken away from him. Is there anything he can do or anyway for the decision to be appealed sooner than January 2010?

I need more information. The appeal time on a court decision is not months, so I don't know what you mean when you say he can't appeal until January. Child support is determined by the parties' net income, so if he will be homeless, then he is spending his money elsewhere.
