I feel I need to leave my girlfriend,but we have a 2 year old son together. She has two girls from a previous marriage so she knows more and has representation. If I walk out or move out suddenly what would that do to future custody of my son

It would not help your cause. At a minimum, it would show that you are not responsible and therefore cannot take full responsibility for a child. It is merely a factor the court will consider when it comes time to determine custody.
