Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
my girlfriend has an issue, she is broke and her twins are in custody of their father (still a husband), divorce papers and custody papers filed in court, but the issue at hand is her visitation rights. Few bad choices on her part in past few years, few police visits after her husband beat her and a restraint order later against him, she is strugling just to say hi to her kids on the phone, as her husband and his family get to call all the shots, whether or not she gets to see or talk to them on the phone, she tries every day from the time she gets up in the morning untill she goes to sleep. To add insult to injury, her soon to be ex husband is going to prison in 20 days for 2 years for 3 DUI's , she (girlfriend) bends over backwards to him and his family just to have few minutes with her children, but as it stands, because the restraint order against the abusive ex husband, they are using that to pain her more, and even deny her visits with her kids on their birthday, and the CT state DCS worker gives her nothing but grief, downtalks to her in a matter I would not allow anyone talk to me, and without offering help, threatens her that once her ex goes to prison, he will do what he can to place the kids in his family not her. She has no money, been through so much, can anyone suggest what can I do to help her, or point her in the direction?

She should go to Legal Aid to see if she qualifies for a free attorney. This is too complicated to handle on her own.
