Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
Guardian Ad Litem
Can you request that a guardian ad
litem conduct a specific separate
interview with the children being
represented. For instance: have the
GAL ask both children what they
have been told of the current
situation by their father. Father is
being accused of manipulation and PA
and GAL has only met with the
children, (11 and 14) in the presence
of the father. Father has been
denigrating the mother and rewriting
the past to convince the children of
complete fabrications for 5 years
causing mother to now defend
herself over things that never
happened. Father has done such a
good job of manipulating the children
that they now are aligned with him
and he has made them his witnesses
where he has no proof otherwise of
ridiculous allegations.

Re: Guardian Ad Litem
It is the GAL's job to meet with the children not only in the presence of each parent, but individually without either party present. So long as you have explained your concerns to the GAL, then he/she will investigate your claims.
If the GAL is new to the case, then maybe he/she has not had an opportunity yet to meet with the children.
You should discuss this with the GAL and inquire whether he/she intends on meeting with the children.
