Incompetant

What do I need to do to declare a parent incompetant? Do I need the other parents permission? What about siblings?

You must make an application to the Probate Court for the District in which the parent lives for the appointment of a conservator. There will be a hearing at which spouses and siblings can testify. You will need to submit, with the application, a Physician's Evaluation Form - a form completed by a licenced physition (in Connecticut) who has examined the person within 30 days, expressing the opinion that the person is incapable of caring for him/herself, or providing support for those depending on the person. The forms can be obtained from the court (or off the internet, for that matter). The tricky part often is getting the Dr.'s form
