Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
I have been legally divorced since November 2005 (in CT). At the time of the divorce I was awarded $75,000 as my settlement which was to be done by my ex husband refinancing our house. He could not qualify for refinancing (which I told them he would not in court). Long story short....he almost allowed the home to be foreclosed on twice which forced me to put a lien on the house to protect my interest.
I have not pursued anything legally since that time. Truthfully, I ran out of $$.
Recently, I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and I need that money to fight for my life. I would think I would be entitled to the settlement amount plus interest.
I can not seem to find anyone to take this case and fight for this money owed without paying for services upfront. I do not have the money to do this right now.
I need advice on how I could possibly collect on the money I am owed. Would anyone take this case and be paid a percentage of money collected?
Please advise.

It's unethical for a lawyer take a family case on contingency.
If you will call me to discuss, I might agree to a payment plan. I'd need to see the divorce decree and talk with you about your and his financial situation. 860.233.6336.
