Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
I live in CT, and my divorce was finalized in June of 2015. I am changing jobs due to layoff, and my new job will be paying me about 40% less than previous position. My severance package will pay me for 9 weeks of the new year.
In that time, I will be paying the old alimony amount and hope to have amount modified when the severance period is over. However, my question is this: Will my ex have any claim on the money I make at new position during the nine-week period that she is receiving 'old' alimony from severance pay?

No claim, so long as you are paying the current order. However, file your motion to modify right away, as it will take a few months to get a hearing on the modification, and the modification can be retroactive only to the date you file the motion.
