Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

How long can my spouse delay

Married 4 yrs filed for divorse and 90 day waiting period is over. I supported my husband during the marriage and paid the down payment on the house . I recently left the home because he was watching me sleep and I became scared. I am staying in my sisters basement. I had to get a cotempt order just to get his F/A and he is omitting assets and filed for exclusive use of the home. With a limited contested divorce how long can he drag it out? Will this affect my getting the house? He overstated the value of the house how do I go about getting it appraised?

You can go to the clerk's office at your local courthouse for most of the information. As far as the appraisal, you can simply go online to find someone, or check the yellow pages.

As a practical matter most, if not all, limited contested and contested divorces are time consuming. There is no way to predict how long yours will last in that it is completely dependant upon the facts of your particular case. I would also strongly advise you (if you haven't already done so)to get an attorney to represent you in this matter. Such counsel will best be able to help you receive your fair share at the time a divorce is granted.
