Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

I'm about to get married and my question is the following: I have bought a house with my brother a two family house he is the owner and me. When we bought the house we didn't specify which side is his and which one is mine. Im thinking to do a prenuptial agreement in order to protect my brother in the future if I ever get divorced. Do I have to do that or when she marries me she will not have any right to the house since I bought it with my brother not her. I also bought a nice and expensive engagment ring. Can I put in a prenuptial agreement that I want it back if we ever get divorced. Please let me know. Thank You.

You should definitely do a prenuptial agreement. You need to specify that she is not entitled to any portion of the real estate you own with your brother and that she returns the engagement ring upon divorce.

You should retain an attorney to draft the prenuptial because it is very important that the terms and the execution comply with Connecticut law. Otherwise, the agreement may not be enforceable.
