Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
modify divorce decree?
My ex wife has moved into another state 3 years ago. Can i remodify the the decree on medical insurance for my son since my work will not cover him out of state and i am now paying a large amount out of pocket. The court told the exwife that she was to cover him on her insuranse for pennies then have me paying a outragous amont out of pocket. Since then she has quit yet another job and my son is on her husbands insurance again. They now want me to pay for that expense which is over 130 dollars per month. Plus she is coming back for more child support for the third time in a year and a half. She quit the job that was covering our sons insurance. She is going to work for herself and its a cash business. Do i have any recourse to stop her from getting anymore money? I am not making anymore money and i am struggling to pay my bills. She gets i big amount of child support already. What can i do??
Thank you

Re: modify divorce decree?
I am not very clear when you say "they." Do you mean your former spouse and her husband, or the court?
Your divorce decree needs to be reviewed. Many times it will say that a parent is supposed to provide insurance so long as it is available through the parent's employer at a reasonable cost.
Furthermore, if your work insurance does not cover him while living out of state, you may be able to modify as this may be considered a substantial change in circumstances.
Regarding her attempt to modify the child support, I would need more facts to comment.
