Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
Can a mother keep a father from seeing their 3 year old son? He has offered to pay child support and just wants to see him on FaceTime and talk to him on the phone, but she refuses any contact. He does have a criminal record of trafficking marijuana from 2009, but is that enough reason for her to keep them from any contact? She lives in CT and he lives in FL.

Is the paternity established (by a court, not just "everybody knows it's mine")? Is there a court order for visitation (also called a Parenting Plan) in place? The court will almost certainly allow you some kind of contact/visitation with the child, but you will first have to have a court establish paternity and bring what's called a Custody Action in CT to get a parenting plan established. Issues will include 1) how old is the child? 2) how long has it been since you have had contact with the child? (You may have to gradually re-integrate yourself into the child's life if you've been out of it for a while) 3) your(and her) current situation and history. One minor MJ conviction isn't going to preclude you from visitation. All of this will require time, effort and money.
