Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

What comes first, moving or divorce

Am confused about proper procedure. Family told me if I move out before filing for divorce I can be charged with abandonment, but it seems strange to remain under same roof when filing for divorce? Also want to relocate to NY, do I have to wait for divorce to be final before changing state. There are no children involved.

Re: What comes first, moving or divorce

Forget abandonment. Move to NY. No penalty(unless spouse is bed-ridden or completely without means of support, or something) You certainly can start the divorce while still under the same roof, but it's not necessary. Call me and I'll explain the process.
