Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Naming a child born to an unwed mother

I am 17, unmarried, and pregnant. I would like to give the child the fathers last name, but have been told that there are legal reasons why I should not do that. What are these reasons?

Unwed mother - child's name

In my state (NC) children are often named with their unmarried father's name.

Ask "why" of the person who told you that there are legal reasons not to do so. Make them be specific and make sure that you ask all the questions that you want.
