Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

A paternity test was done and my sons father (as he knows him ) is not his biological father. My son is only four and I would his father's name removed from his birth certificate. I would also like this man to be out of my son's life. How can I do this? Can he ask for non-custodial visitation? Does he have a right to see my son when he is no longer his biological father?

Unfortunately, the answer is not simple. It would be easier to give you an answer if you know who the biological father is. The fact that your son knows him as his father means he has a relationship with him, although a fairly short one of four years. If he fights for visitation, he could get it because of this relationship. This is assuming the relationship is a good one.

The visitation issue is separate from the birth certificate issue. If you get a court order stating he is not the biological father then you can have the change made with vital statistics.
