Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Why do I have to pay my ex more money after I've retired?

I retired from my job as a teacher in June 2005. My retirement is not equal to my paychecks, and I cannot collect Social Security. Before retirement, I was ordered to pay my ex-wife $14,400 per year alimony. After retirement, she receives $10,368 per year from my retirement account. I have been ordered by a judge to pay her a lowered amount of alimony of $6,760 per year - for a total of $17,128. How can I be expected to pay her nmre on less income? The judge refused to listen to my case, and now I must appeal. Do I have any other options? Am I allowed to write a letter to the judge explaining my circumstances, since he refused to listen in court?

You can probably file a motion for modification, but I'd have to know a lot more about the case to tell. (I'd also like to know who the judge was).
