Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

If someone is in the process of getting divorced and has been separated from their spouse for over 1 year and has now gotten involved in a new relationship, can their spouse use this against them in court? I am dating someone who is getting divorced and we are explicit and actually have our relationship posted on "Facebook" and someone told him that might not be a good idea because it can be used against him in the long run? I disagree. Am i correct? Thank you!

Why would you need to post your new relationship on Facebook????

I shake my head when it comes to Facebook. Why is it necessary to make your private life public?

That being said, if the relationship broke down long before the new relationship began ( I assume so since one of them filed for divorce) then most likely the new relationship can not be used against the spouse in any constructive way. One of the exceptions applies if the spouse is requesting alimony and the new partner contributes to his situation financially.

This doesn't mean that his spouse can not bring it up, make accusations and allegations as to its relevance to their divorce, including the children, if any.

I DON'T think putting your relationship on Facebook is a good idea, nor do I think what you benefit from it being on Facebook outweighs the detriment or, atleast the annoyance, it can bring.
