Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Question re: Exchange of Financial Affidavits.

I went to the court clerks office to get my financial affidavit notarized and the clerk did not return my affidavit. She said it would be placed into my file. My question is, when exchanging financial affidavits with my husband, do I have to get it notarized prior to my sending it to him or do I just send him a non-notarized copy?

That is a very good question. The answer depends on a number of factors. Those factors include why and when the financials are being exchanged. If the court ordered that "signed" financials be exchanged then that means they must be signed and notarized. If you are exchanging financials on an informal basis, then you may not necessarily need it notarized. Let me say that eventually at some point the financials will be notarized.
