Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

I recently left my spouse- I have a car in my name only, and was last registered in my name only, that I pay the loan on. It is currently not running and parked at the housing complex that we lived at. I notified the property manager that I was leaving , she agreed to let me leave it and tow it later. My spouse has the keys and will not give them to me - I went to the police station tonight and asked for an escort to my spouses to obtain the keys, they refused to help me. Going there by myself could causea domestic. What rights do I have- to obtain the keys , or with getting help from police ASAP

Unfortunately, division of property has to be addressed by the court. It doesn't matter who has title to the car (or a house, or bank account or brokerage account), when you are married the court can divvy up the property any way it sees fit. As a practical matter, the court will probably assign you the car eventually, and in fact, if it is causing you real problems not having the car (can't get to work, etc.) and the spouse is holding up the keys out of spite, the court will probably slap him/her for this behavior. But you have to start a divorce action to get any help from the court.
