From the facts I don't think that you would be violating any law, but being that there is an order of support in place I highly recommend that you have an attorney review the facts of your case. Also, it is probably better to take a proactive approach versus a reactive approach when it comes to visitation issues (i.e., resolve these issues now (before you move) versus when the biological father takes action) because it might be more of an expense to resolve these issues once you move away.

There is no court order in effect preventing you from moving; however, the Connecticut courts will have jurisdiction for 6 months to issue a custody order affecting the child. So, theoretically, you could move, the father could start a custody case within 6 months and the court could order the child back here. (They can't order you back, but they could give custody to the father). I'm not saying they would do that, but they could. You'd do better to start a custody action now and have the relocation decided there. That could cost you a few thousand dollars, though.
