Are you required to change your name after a divorce if it was requested and granted on the divorce decree or is it still optional ?

You're not required to go to, say, Social Security or the DMV to formally change your name on the documents. As long as you're not trying to defraud someone or pretend to be someone else, you can keep using your married name.
