Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Sexual Harrasment

My friend (Debbie) filed for divorce of her husband, of 14 years. They have 2 daughters 14 & 8. No adultery. When she drops or picks up her daughters from visitation her estranged husband makes unwanted sexual comments to her. You have a fat ass, you need to get laid. He also grasps his crouch. She doesnt believe her daughters have seen him grab himself, but they definitely hear his sexual comments. Also in order for him to sign the divorce decree he wants her to give him a BJ.

What type of harassment is this? Is it punishable by law? What evidence would she need?

Re: Sexual Harrasment

Debbie's husband's inappropriate sexual comments may be enough to have him charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor, which is a felony punishable by up to 10 years. His behavior makes me wonder whether he should have unsupervised visitation with his daughters. Debbie does not need her husband to sign anything to get divorced. This all sounds like a very serious situation. Debbie should discuss the situation with her lawyer if she has one. If not, she should certainly speak to a lawyer to get help in protecting herself and her daughters from her husband's grossly inappropriate behavior. I would be happy to speak to her. Re: Sexual Harrasment

It is just plain harrassment (doesn't have to be a type) and she should go to Fam court and get an Order of protection so that he stops it.

If he doesn't, he gets arrested.

He doesn't sign a divorce decree...the Judge does once grounds are proved and other issues resolved.

I hope she has an attorney. If so, make him/her aware.
