Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut
My son who turned 17 in July will run off over night if my husband or I tell him no. His friends who are under 18 take him in to their parents home. Can I press some kind of charges onto these people to show my son he needs to stay home and accept "NO" .
We had my nephew live with us when he was a minor. At the age of 18 he moved into his 16 year olds house (bedroom) with her parents blessing. I feel now that my three younger children think this is normal behavior. Actually, last friday after taking our car without permission, he slept at her house-she's 17 now and a senior in high school like my son.
How can I stop this family from doing this. I want them to mind their own business. Their oldest son is waiting to go to court for breaking and entering. I DON'T WANT MY KIDS THERE, AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO STOP IT??
1 Answer from Attorneys
This is a complicated situation which requires much more than an answer on here. You should consult with an attorney. If you have tried to talk to the parents of these kids and they refuse to cooperate then obviously you must take more agressive measures. This would include outside professional intervention and assistance from professionals who are trained in handling unruly teenagers. Unfortunately, although the problem sounds like these parents, it really starts at home with your own children.
