Re: special masters pre trial

A special master's pretrial is a very important part of your case. Two seasoned family law lawyers, usually a man and a woman, will meet with each of the parties (if they are representing themselves) or their lawyers, if any.

You will each present your case and they will consult with each other and make recommendations for purposes of settling the case.

They will tell you the ups and downs of your case and hopefully, your case will be resolved. If not, it's a chance to test your case to see what a judge may or may not do in the event you need to go to trial. Not all cases are cut and dry, and a second/third opinion can be very helpful.

You should have a completed, up to date financial affidavit, and your proposal for settlement prepared and enough copies for each of the masters and a copy for the other side.
