Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

How can I speed up my divorce?

I am in the process of getting a divorce and my husband is in the military. He has already been served with the papers but it isn't going to be final until the 28th of October. I have found someone else during the time that me and my soon to be ex have been seperated but he is also in the military. Is there anyway that I can be with this other person before my divorce is final. Or is there anyway that I can speed up the divorce?

Re: How can I speed up my divorce?

Connecticut has a mandatory 90 day waiting period before a divorce can be granted and there may be additional time if one party is in the military service. Also, a one year residency requirement must be satisified. During the time period that the divorce is pending you are allowed to have friends, just as you could before the divorce started. I do not recommend moving in with another for a number of reasons and especially if there are children involved. You should speak to an attorney who can give you advise based on all the facts of your case. Hope this helps, Tom Noonan
