Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

support,visitation vs rights

I divorced my ex wife about 2 years ago. I wasn't able to make the divorce hearing because of financial reasons directly associated with an abnormal amount of support ordered by the courts. In the divorce papers the court had decided that I am ''restrained and enjoined from having any contact with my 2 minor children'' and that child support still stands. I currently pay more than half my wages twords support and am struggling to survive, i am now homeless and broke and facing arrest. I want to know if it is possible to remove rights because of the fact that I have no rights to begin with. And how I would go about doing that.

Re: support,visitation vs rights

You can file a motion with the Probate Court to give up your parental rights, but I doubt the court would grant the motion in view of the facts you've recited. If there has been a change in your income situation, you can file a motion to modify your support obligation.
