Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Taking Custody

We would like to know what immediate steps we can take to get complete custody of two children. They are my husbands sisters. The mother is unfit and doesn't help with them. What can we do?

Please help,

Renee

Re: Taking Custody

You don't have "standing" (legal authority) to stick your nose into it. You'd have to get DCF involved to take the kids away from her. Then you could petition to be made guardians. However, just because she might not be the ideal mother doesn't mean DCF will do anything. They really have to be in danger for DCF to take action.
